School starting soon!
I have one week until spring quarter starts and I still need to get my books. I’ve found that I can get used versions of the books required at Amazon. I’m going to try to get them this week so they will be here before my classes start. I’ve also discovered that I need to attend my first class on my first day before receiving the remainder of my financial aid. It’s a bit different with online classes as I’ll need to contact the teacher of the course and have them send me a special note that I can bring into the Financial Aid office at the school. I understand why this is done. I’m sure many have applied for financial aid and then attempted to make off with some money and not attend classes.
I’m getting really excited to start. Between school, Demand Studios and a new offer for writing, things should be cooking along really well. Not to mention very busy!
I’ve only recently discovered that people are reading this blog. If you have any questions whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m hoping to disseminate information that could be useful to others looking to do the same.
Starting classes very soon!
I’ve been horribly neglectful in keeping up with this web site! With all the stuff going on with my freelance writing, web development, kids and more, this poor little web site got back burnered.
So, the most recent development is my registering for classes coming this spring quarter. Here is what is on the slate:
| CMST&102 - Intro To Mass Media | ||
| CMST 131 - Exploring Digital Future | ||
| SOC& 101 - Intro To Sociology |
Giving me a total of 15 credits for this first quarter. All of my schooling will be accomplished online so I will be giving feedback on how well (or not so well) this goes. March 22 I can purchase my books and the remainder of my financial aid will be given to me.
I’ve also discovered that if I were to continue with classes during the summer, it would affect my overall financial aid (lower it). So, I’ve opted to not go to school during the summer. Which is probably for the best as I can enjoy the time with my children and get ready for fall quarter.
Stay tuned for more updates! I’m hoping to attend to this blog at least once a week. Thanks for stopping by and giving it a read!
Need to revamp the portfolio
With the massive increase in writing I’ve been doing lately, I think a portfolio listing split up between main subject matters may be in order. I’m also going to see if I can’t implement a script to hide/show listings of articles to shorten up the length a bit.
In other news, I’m waiting to see if I’ve been picked up by Sitepoint to write. This is a tremendous opportunity as they pay their writers handsomely and allow for bonus payments on certain numbers of views. Uptik is giving me a lot of project work which is nice and I located another site that pays decently per article written. However, if I’m picked up by Sitepoint, any other writing will just be gravy.
I am going to check on the application date for Spring quarter financial aid for Bellevue CC. I know I’m going to have to wait one quarter so I can apply for and have the aid in hand when registering for classes. Just a minor bump in the road but a road I’m excited to start on!
